Dress up your 4th of July table!
Use red and blue bandanas for napkins.
Heap strawberries and blueberries into white bowls.
Make a bouquet of small American flags instead of flowers.
For a patriotic-themed centerpiece, arrange red and white mini-carnations in a white or glass vase. Accent the arrangement with "fireworks" curlicues of shiny blue curling ribbons fastened to wooden skewers or florist picks.
Cover the table with a white paper or plastic tablecloth. Let the kids decorate it with red and blue star stickers.
Let the kids make a long red, white and blue paper cain to drape between trees, along a fence or at the edge of a deck railing. To vary the effect:
-
Use decorative-edge scissors to cut the paper strips
-
Decorate strips with stickers or shaped paper punches
-
Write a message on each strip (e.g., peace, independence, freedom, liberty) before fastening it into a link.
-
Use wrapping paper, magazine pages or chenile stems (pipe cleaners) for some of the links
